Lesa Sobek, her husband Jim, and their three children have lived in Menifee for over 30 years. Lesa’s ties to the community run deep, including working in the Menifee School District as a Health Technician, Office Clerk, and Library Technician.

In August of 1997, Lesa was hired by MUSD to research and develop a literacy program known as GREAT (Grandparents, Reading, Enriching, and Tutoring). Under Lesa’s leadership, the GREAT Program was recognized by the California School Boards Association, receiving “The Golden Bell Award”.

In 2005, Lesa’s oldest son joined the US Army. “Being a parent of our Nation’s Finest gave me a much greater appreciation for the young men and women and their families who selflessly sacrifice and serve our country in the military.”

Lesa met with City official and the City Veteran’s Committee to establish the “Menifee Military Banner Program”, which honors our community’s veterans and military men and women from past to present.

Lesa has been a champion for youth and youth programs in Menifee. Lesa has supported families and seniors by holding food drives to support the local community cupboard, and for starting the “Menifee Better Together Program”, a community day of cleanup that has helped hundreds of senior citizens, residents, and beautification projects for neighborhoods and parks. Lesa has brought awareness to domestic violence and championed many efforts for the local shelter.

In the 30-plus years Lesa has lived in Menifee, she has volunteered at her local church in many leadership positions, such as the lady’s society, youth and children’s organization president, and for the past 20 years as public affairs and communications director.

Lesa served our City as a planning commissioner before being elected to the Menifee City Council in a special election in 2015. Lesa is a proven leader, with strong family values, strong work ethic, who has integrity and loves serving the businesses and residents of Menifee.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
